Bike Gallery - St Patrick's Day Event

We had a great turnout for our St Patrick's Day Ride with the Portland cycling community and the staff at Bike Gallery!  Was hard to get a good head count, but we had +30 riders  on bikes of all types!  The ride started from the Downtown shop and went down to Tom McCall Waterfront Park toward the Broadway Bridge.  Then we made the climb back up to the shop and had some refreshments and gave away t-shirts and a MADSEN Cycle!

Our congrats to the Saxton-Rowe Family for winning a baby blue MADSEN bucket bike!  After winning the bike, we learned that they live in a shared housing complex where none of the families own a car.  We look forward to hearing more about how the MADSEN bike is used by the residents at the Peninsula Park Commons.

We also want to thank Joe from joe-bike.com for coming to support the event.  He brought his amazing cargo bike loaded with flowers which he graciously gave away to everyone.

Seattle Bike Expo

Although it was a soggy and windy weekend in Seattle (anyone surprised?), the cycling community came out in mass to the annual Bike Expo sponsored by the Cascade Bicycle Club.  We had the opportunity to show our bikes off to hundreds of people at the show, and many people took test rides regardless of the rain.  You might imagine the rain cover was popular (photo).

We had the privilege to place bikes with two area bike shops that we're proud to partner with.  Stop in a see the MADSEN bikes at Recycled Cycles and Aaron's Bicycle Repair Inc.  When we left Aaron's shop, he was talking about installing a Stoke Monkey on one of the bucket bikes! We can't wait to see the results since we've had several questions about electric assist on MADSEN bikes.

Welcome Revolution Cycles!

MADSEN Cycles is proud to welcome Revolution Cycles in Eugene, Oregon as our newest dealer. We dropped in to deliver their first order on the way to the Seattle International Bicycle Expo.  A big thanks to Shane and his staff for all their help, and thanks to everyone that made it out to a great social at Revolution Cycles. Every one (even Roscoe the dog) was able to ride a MADSEN, eat, drink and have a great time. If you weren’t able to make out for the social: don’t worry, stop by Revolution Cycles shop anyways cause we're pretty sure that every day at the shop is a party! On top of that Shane has a great full service shop with talented individuals, specializing in anything cycle. Make sure to stop by 1061 W 2nd Ave 541-302-8049.  Tell 'em we said "hey".

New & Improved Kick Stand Feet

If you are riding a MADSEN you may have noticed the current k-stand feet pop off and don’t hold  up to a lot of urban use.  The current feet are an upgrade from the original feet from our factory, but still have not held up the way we wanted them to.  I have been looking for a foot that will last longer, stay on, and look good.  Working with John at Lamico Inc, we finally found what we think is a perfect k-stand foot.  Since 1964 Lamico has manufactured millions of crutches.  In talking with John I found out that they had the same problem with crutch tips that we do with our k-stand feet. The problem is the cheap rubber used in manufacturing the tips, so Lamico invested in their own injection molding factory and developed a PVC based crutch tip, which is superior to others in many ways. MADSEN Cycles can’t afford our an injection molding factory, we worked out a partnership with Lamico and they are making a dark grey PVC based tip for our k-stand (we couldn’t stand the standard flesh colored crutch tips).  We have been testing these feet for a while and they don’t wear out or pop off - they're great!  We have already started sending out new MADSEN bikes with these improved k-stand feet.  And since they are so much better than the old ones we also want every one that has a MADSEN to be using the new feet.  Contact us directly and we will ship them right out to you free of charge.
